Eagle Nest is just a stone's throw from the Angel Fire Resort, where families and friends come to ski and snow board each year. Summer in Eagle Nest, New Mexico
Located on the jewel of Northern New Mexico, the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, Eagle Nest is a sportsman's paradise and a vacation destination year-round. Enjoy fishing and boating on Eagle Nest Lake, hiking, mountain and road biking on the more than one million acres of the Carson National Forest, or see the Old West the way the cowboys did, on horseback. You can spend an hour or several days on horseback, exploring the mountains and alpine meadows of the Southern Rockies' Sangre de Cristo range.
The Enchanted Circle offers a breathtaking century bike, motorcycle or car ride from the high desert of historic Taos, through Eagle Nest, Angel Fire and into the Mountains of Red River. And nearby you'll find world class river rafting, from a leisurely 3 day float down the Chama River through multicolored sandstone cliffs, to the Class IV+ rapids of the Rio Grande's Taos Box run. The expansive plateau at Taos is surrounded by mountains, creating the perfect thermals for hot air ballooning, and the mountains themselves offer spectacular views, whether you are hiking, cross country skiing, or literally hanging off a cliff ... rock climbing with the local climbing school.
A short trip down the road to Taos offers shopping, dining, galleries and museums. Visit the oldest continually inhabited dwelling in America, the Taos Pueblo. Just a little farther along the Enchanted Circle near San Cristobal is the Ranch which was given to D.H. Lawrence by Mabel Dodge Luhan. And outside Questa you can see the confluence of two of New Mexico's Wild and Scenic Rivers, the Rio Grande (America's first) and the Chama River.
And then of course you can always do ... nothing! Relax and enjoy the hummingbirds. Northern New Mexico is teeming with them! Throw today's catch on the grill and savor a meal with friends. Then be ready for one of the greatest shows ever, the New Mexico night sky. If you come in August, you're in for a treat, the meteor showers are a real event here in big sky country. Just bundle up (It's cold here at night) and lay back in your lounge chair for an evening of spectacular shooting stars.
So whatever your desire, active or relaxing, park your vacation home at Eagle Nest RV, or rent a cabin or RV, and see why New Mexico is called the Land of Enchantment.
