Jeep and 4-wheeling in the magnificent Carson National Forest provide a great day of sightseeing, and nearby you can enjoy world-class golf, whitewater rafting, hot air ballooning, rock climbing, or llama trekking. Take Northern New Mexico's most popular day trip around the Enchanted Circle, through magnificent mountain scenery and high desert to historic Taos for galleries and museums, dining shopping and galleries.

Winter Fun in Red River, NM
Winter in the Rocky Mountains means snow, snow, and more snow! And in the low humidity of Northern New Mexico, Red River's annual 18+ feet of snowfall has a high percentage of gorgeous powder! The Red River Ski Area has long been a popular ski resort for family ski vacations. And its location right in town makes it easy for the whole family to enjoy great skiing and snowboarding. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling are all popular in Red River, with pet friendly back-country trails available to enjoy with your dogs. And most Saturday evenings throughout ski season you can enjoy a torchlight parade at the Red River Ski Area. Cozy up by the fire in the evening with a great book or a movie. If you're in the mood, head out to enjoy square dancing, or some of Red River's great musicians at one of the local night spots.
And Red River really knows how to throw a party! This is a little town that does everything in a big way. Red River is home to the biggest little Mardi Gras celebration in the U.S., annual music festivals, concerts and shows, a chile cook-off, a rollicking Fourth of July parade with family activities that last all day, and so much more! No sooner is Red River done cleaning up from one event, than they're getting ready for the next! On summer evenings, you can enjoy more stars than you'll see most anywhere else. While lodge guest rooms are complete with a full kitchen, when the desire strikes to eat out there are plenty of options to tempt the appetite at Red River's restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, and ice cream parlors.
Lodging Accommodations at the Golden Eagle Lodge
Golden Eagle Lodge has apartments that sleep six in two bedrooms, one with two queen beds and the other with a king size bed and a fully equipped kitchen. Other accommodations sleep eight people in comfort with actual beds and three baths. All of the guest rooms at the Golden Eagle Lodge are non-smoking, with wireless internet, and the Lodge is pet friendly. Surrounded by the most beautiful mountains in New Mexico, the Golden Eagle Lodge is your haven in Red River.
The Great Room provides a perfect space for large get-togethers and is complete with a fully equipped kitchen, HDTV, seating for 50 or more and a wood burning stove.
Golden Eagle operators, Jerry and Marla Vowell, go out of their way to not only provide quality service, but create an atmosphere of warmth, hearth and heart. And like the Lodge, they too have their own story. When visiting the lodge be sure to ask them about how they moved to Red River from Texas.
