Red River is located in Northern New Mexico's Rocky Mountains, surrounded by the Carson National Forest at an altitude of 8750 ft. It’s year-round population of 480 swells to over 1000 as summer residents and tourists join the community, and in winter, the Red River Ski Area fills the town with skiers and snow sports enthusiasts.

The majority of rentals have fully equipped kitchens and other amenities. Linens, towels, wood for fireplaces, dish soap and bath soaps are provided.
