Brenda Johnson Talks About Life in Angel Fire, NM
"I moved to the beautiful Moreno Valley in 1984 after leaving New Orleans. Before long, we knew that Angel Fire and Eagle Nest, New Mexico are such small communities that you almost can't pass a car without someone waving at you. My husband Ole and I raised our three great kids here; Calvin, Ryan, and Nicholas. Calvin and Nicholas both attended high school at Cimarron High School and Ryan's class was the first to graduate from the new Moreno Valley High School.
"This place is heaven on earth! I never tire of the weather; the altitude, rainbows, sunsets, and the rising of the sun in the morning. We have been on some fabulous vacations, yet it seems that every time we come over the hill from Cimarron, looking over Eagle Nest toward Angel Fire I ask myself, "Why did we leave?" I know of a bumper sticker on a friends car that says Angel Fire: the hardest thing to do is leave and that sums it all up a lot for me - I love this valley.
Sharing Her Love of Angel Fire with You
"Seems like I have always been in sales in one form are another, so Real Estate seemed like the next step. I entered the Real Estate business in late 2004, and haven't looked back!
"In the early part of 2007, I became Property Manager for Angel Fire Mountain Rentals, as well as selling real estate. I found I loved making reservations for people - talking about each property and finding the vacation rental home or condo which best fit the needs of each family. I also enjoyed meeting the guests upon their arrival, and helping to solve any issues they might encounter. Angel Fire Mountain Rentals grew to one of the largest property management companies here. The people I worked for and with made the vacation rental home owners and guests alike feel like family. We weren't perfect, but we grew and learned from each one of our owners and guests.
"In May of 2013 I got my Qualifying Brokers license and started my own company, specializing in what I do best - making owners and guests feel like family, and Angel Fire the vacation place where guests want to return season after season. I love developing a relationship with both my vacation rental homeowners and guests - finding out which child graduated, who had a new baby, and in return, sharing all the news about the Moreno Valley."

Your Four Season Rocky Mountain Playground!
Angel Fire and Eagle Nest are completely surrounded by 1.5 million acres comprising the Carson National Forest, providing recreation opportunities year-round.
Vacationers travel from all over to hike and mountain bike the hundreds of miles of trails through the forest ... or see the alpine meadows full of wildflowers the way the Cowboys did - on horseback! Located on the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway, this is also prime road biking territory, with several century rides and even a double century ride. Just a few miles down the road is great white water rafting, rock climbing and hot air ballooning. And just up the road is our very own Ghost Town, the original mining settlement, Elizabethtown.
And there is plenty more history to explore as well, as this area was home to one of America's great art colonies. Artists and photographers made the long, hard trek to paint this beautiful land, bathed in a light so spectacular, you have to see it. Nearby Taos is home to North America's oldest inhabited dwelling, the Taos Pueblo, which is a trip not to be missed, and of course there were mountain men in abundance, including Northern New Mexico's favorite son, Kit Carson, whom the National Forest is named after.
Sportsmen and women come for some of the best fly fishing and hunting in the U.S. Lake fishing is also a big hit in Eagle Nest, where the catch is salmon, trout and perch. Fly fish for rainbow and brown trout, and hunt for native elk, deer, antelope and bear among others. And of course, there is championship golf at nearby Angel Fire Resort and the Taos Country Club.
By Christmas, the valley turns into a Winter Wonderland. When there is a full moon, Snowmobiling in the Kit Carson National Forest is the place to be. Horse-drawn sleigh rides are available too. Cross country skiing, snow shoeing and sledding are favorite pastimes as well, but of course, the big draw is skiing and snow boarding.
Angel Fire has long been a favorite family ski vacation destination, with trails for all levels of skiing. Night skiing and tubing are also popular, and the resort offers lots of family activities.
Angel Fire and the surrounding area offer all this and more ... and don't forget, you can always relax on the deck of your vacation rental while you enjoy a glass of award-winning New mexico wines, and listen to the birds!
